The pollen beetle is the most important pest of rapeseed in Serbia and can cause seed yield losses of 50% and more. The abundance of this insect and damages it causes are reduced primarily by cultural practices and chemical measures. The most significant among the former are crop rotation and spatial isolation as well as any other measures that contributes towards the good condition of the crop, such as fertilizer application, for example. Chemical control is justified only when preceded by the determination of the harmfulness threshold, i.e. critical number. The pollen beetle can be controlled using registered pesticides based on deltametrin, alpha-cipermetrin, bifenthrin, pirimifosmetil, and phosalone as well as using a mixture of chlorpyrifos and cipermetrin.
