New legal frame for enviromental protection in the Republic of Serbia was enacted in December 2004, as a part of compliance of local laws with the laws of EU and for the beginning it included four laws: Environmetal Protection Law, Law on Strategic Evaluation of Influences upon Environment, Law on Evaluation of Influence upon Environment, and Law on Integrated Prevention and Control of Environmental Contamination. These four system laws make the frame for the local regulations (consisting of: laws, rulebooks, acts, decisions, etc.) related to environmet. whereas water protection has been regulated with tennish regulations which, among other things, define obligations of companies and records that they ought to have, so as to comply to legal regulations.
