Occurrence and control of thrips on flowers and vegetables

Some of most important thrips on flowers and vegetable in Serbia are described: Frankliniella occidentalis, Thrips tabaci, Frankliniella intonsa, Echichnothrips americanus and Taeniothrips simplex. Depending on species of thrips, than of biology and place of producing of flowers or vegatable, different approach of control are formed. For most of thrips, the growers used registered insecticides by foliar application. But, in case of F. occidentalis, which is resistant to most insecticides, the growers used spinosad, novel mechanism of action in order to control of larvae and adults on flowers and leaves and by irrigation using methiocarb in order to control chrysalidation of larvae.
