Thailand is rich with valuable herbs and medicinal plants with a high potential for the development into healthcare products for domestic use and for export. To be successful in the export business of herbal products, Thai manufacturers and exporters need to familiarize themselves with and abide by the laws and regulations that control the standards, safety, and sale of such products in each country. This paper summarizes the laws and regulations of the European Union, the United States of America and Australia. It also touches upon the factors involved in the development of herbal product industry, the problems the industry is facing, and the suggested solutions to promote the export of Thai herbal products and increase the country competitiveness in the global market.
