Using of effective microorganism (EM) in Sovereign marigold planting for cut flower was conducted during June-October 1993 at RIT. Phitsanuloke campus. The experimental design was randomized complete block (RCB) with 5 treatment and 4 replications. There were 20 plants in each experimental unit. Two forms of EM were applied to the planting beds, either diluted EM solution or compost with EM. The 200 cc of diluted solutions made by diluting 5 cc or 10 cc of concentrated EM solution in 10 litres of water were poured to the soil around the newly transplanting seedlings. Continued pouring the same amount and concentration of solution every 7-days of intervals until the beginning of flower bud formation. Either 200 g or 400 g of compost with EM were thoroughly mixed once only into a square meter of the planting beds before transplantation. No EM treated beds were used as control. But there were no significant differences in post-experiment soil bulk density, plant height, plant width, and flower size among all treatment and control.
