The principal goals of the nutritional support of dog patient with gastrointestinal disorders are reviewed. A special emphasis is put on the restoration of the normal gastrointestinal microflora, the restoration of the intestinal content, reduction of the inflammation and reduction of non-absorbed nutrients. The use of dietary feed with high frucooligosaccharides content are discussed as alternative of the traditional therapy of intestinal disorders.
