Milk and blood urea concentration in dairy and merino sheep

The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of the breed on the milk and blood urea concentration in sheep. The blood and milk samples were collected from groups of 10-12 dairy and merino sheep. The plasma urea and milk urea were determined according to the method of Angelov, Ibrishimov, Milashki - 1999. It was determined that the breed influences the milk and blood urea concentration. The urea level in the plasma and milk of dairy sheep were lower than these of merino sheep.
