[Clonal pear rootstocks in layering mother garden]

The results of study of introduced and local forms of clonal pear rootstocks grown in the layering mother garden are presented. The introduced form CI 2-10 (Institute of Horticulture of the Ukranian Academy of Agricultural Sciences) and local quince forms 1/19, 1/22, 1/33 (Institute for Fruit Growing, Belarus) were selected for the complex of economic traits. Taking into consideration features of growth the rootstocks are divided into two groups: the first group – growing up actively in the first half of vegetative period: CI 2-10, 1/19, 1/22, 1/33; these rootstocks finish their growth earlier and establish the top bud in the end of September; the second one - growing up actively in the second half of vegetative period: VA-29 (k), CI 4-2; these rootstocks finish their growth in the middle of November. In some years the quince form VA-29 plants till cold weather and does not form the top bud. Rootstocks have differed on a degree of shoots ripening. The local forms 1/19, 1/22, 1/33 are related to the group of rootstocks with well ripened layers (4-5 points), just 5,4% rootstocks have developed with not ripe shoots (3-3,5 points). Research of wood ripening have shown that at rootstocks with the middle ripe shoots the wood differentiation is finished not completely in the upper part of a shoot, only in the central part it has well ripened. From the studied group of rootstocks only local forms 1/19, 1/22, 1/33 are related to the high winter hardy and winter hardy ones. The output of well deep-rooted layers at majority of studies forms has made 65.0-73.0%
