[The glacial relict fauna of the Yuzhny Volos lake]

The evaluation of the modern state and comparative analysis of the population structure of glacial benthic and planktonic species of the Yuzhny Volos lake (the deepest one on the territory of Braslav region in the Republic of Belarus) over the 30 - year period were realized. Research results showed that the analysed laked proved to be unique one in the Republic with the full number of glacial relict species of opossum shrimps (Mysis relicta), Pontoporeia affinis, Pallasea quadrispinosa and Limnocalanus macrurus and the only water reservoir with relict mollusc species of Pisidium conventus. The dimensional structure and duration of life cycle of the analysed populations were presented. It was noted that the population recruitment of noble crayfish (Astacus astacus) red-listed in the Red List of Threatened Species of Belarus was taking place in the lake. Obviously, the lake Yuzhny Volos could be one of the most significant water reservoirs in Belarus in respect to its unique biological diversity
