The effect of chlormequat and paclobutrazol treatment on safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) growth and flowering

The responses of six safflower varieties with different flowering earliness to chlormequat and paclobutrazol treatments were monitored. The application of chlormequat did not bring about any significant differences in flowering and morphological traits, whereas plants treated with paclobutrazol were shorter and had a higher number of flower heads. This treatment also made flowering earlier.
