[Potential and prospect of effective microorganism (EM) technology in Indonesia]
2003
Subadiyasa, N.N.
Effective microorganisms (EM) technology is one technique to support nature farming. The concept of EM is based on the inoculation of mixed cultures of beneficial microorganisms into soil and they create an environment that is favourable for growth and health of plants. The mechanism of EM interact soil-plant ecosystem is suppression of plant pathogens and diseases, solubilization of soil mineral, conservation of organic energy, soil microbial-ecological balance, photosynthetic efficiency, and biological nitrogen fixation. EM technology is high potential to apply in Indonesia and this technique has a good prospect in the future. Future research is needed to verify the beneficial and impact of this technology.
