[Probability and challenge of sweet potatoes development on dryland in Kutai Kartanegara Regency (Indonesia)

The objectives were to accelerate technology transfer in increasing of sweet potatoes yield and farmer income. On 1999 Samarinda Assessment Institute for Agricultural Technology conduct an experiment of some clones and varieties at three locations. Then invited some farmer groups and sellers to evaluate yield and consumer taste. From 12 tested clones/varieties found one clone (MIS 104-1) had high yield (18.42 t/ha). The consumer like the colour and taste of this clone. Meanwhile the local check variety eventhough has higher yield, the consumer doesn't like it. The yield increase become 32.42 t/ha. In 2000 a survey was conducted to study the assessment effect. It was found that cooperator farmer increase become people and 500 square m per farmer and with mean price Rp 700/kg.
