Development of Web-based plant germplasm information system

The aim of this study was to develop web-based plant germplasm information system and verificated the system using several crop commodities data samples. Research methodologies covered three phases in system development of lifecycle, that were analysis, design, and implementation. Analysis phase covered commodity selection and requirement analysis. Design phase covered database, input, and output design. The outcome of this research was a web-based plant germplasm information system producing a number of reports, namely (1) family, genus, and taxon list, (2) commodity list, (3) accession source, and cooperator list, (4) observation list, (5) descriptor keys, (6) institution and curator list, and (7) evaluation list. System has been verificated using data samples from six food crop commodities, that were rice, maize, soybean, peanut, mungbean, and sweet potato. Other data of crop commodities can be added into the system as necassary.
