This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of seed extracts of 10 yam bean (Pachyrhizus erosus (L.) Urban) accessions on mortality and development of the cabbage head caterpillar, Crocidolomia binotalis Zeller. Second instar C. binotalis larvae were fed on broccoli leaves dipped in the extract for 48 hours, until they reached fourth instar stage. The experiment used CRD with three replications, using ten accessions as treatments. The results showed that 0.1 percent seed extracts of the ten accessions produced 26.67 - 82.22 percent larval mortality. The treatments also prolonged developmental time of the surviving larvae from the second to fourth instar. The result showed that variation in activity exists among the accession and PE031 and PE033 can be a potential source of botanical insecticides.
