Malay apple (Syzygium malaccense (L.) Merr. and Perry) is one of the endangeded fruits plant. Conventional propagation of this plant was inhibited by its high lignin content causing root formation. Propagation through tissue culture was the most appropriate alternative to propagate the planting materials. In this experiment the friable callus was formed through young leaf cultured in MS medium and then callus was cultured to produce somatis embryos. The callus was produced from young leaf explant cultured in MS (Murashige Skoog) medium having treated with 2,4-D (2,4-D dichlorophenoxy acetic) and BAP (6 Benzil Amino Purine). The somatic embryo was developed after the callus has been transfer into MS medium treated with NAA (1-Napthalene Acetic Acid) and Kinetin (6-Furfuryl amino purine).
