[Analysis of consumer's preference of salak high yielding varieties at Malang Regency (Indonesia)]

The research aimed to analyze the characteristic of salak Suwaru' fruit that appropriate with consumer's preference so that can be developed as a prior product of Kabupaten Malang. This research result might be considered by plant breeder in breeding salak fruit which is preferred by consumers. The number of sample was 50 people. The data was analyzed by factor analysis. The research was conducted at some grocery in Malang. Respondents were customer who buying salak at those places who were chosen by accidental sampling. The research result showed that characteristics of salak preferred by consumers were: big size, strong aroma, black brown of skin color, thin skin with soft scales, oval shaped, sweet taste, freshness, thick fruit meat and long time storable.
