[Response of quail (Coturnix-coturnix japonica) to fermented kernel palm oil in feeds]
2004

Growth and egg production of quails were determined following the addition of fermented kernel palm oil (FKPO) in their diets. One day old quails numbering 100 in total were kept in 40 X 40 x 40 cm cage. Feed was given in 25 x 6 x 5 cm wooden tray and water in one liter pot. Feed was given ad libitum. Five treatments (basal diet, 2.5 percent FKPO in diets, 5 percent FKPO in diet, 7.5 percent FKPO in diet, and 10 percent FKPO in diets) were laid out in completely randomized design experiment. The growth parameter were body weight gain, feed consumption and feed conversion. Feed consumption and conversion but not body weight gain were discovered to be significantly affected by the diets given during the growing period. The diets did not affect egg production, feed consumption and feed efficiency during the laying period. The best response of quail was found to be given by 10 percent FKPO.
