In order to study the effect of sowing date on yield and yield components of sweet corn varieties an experiment was conducted for one year (2002-2003 farming season) at Behbahan Agricultural Research Station. A split plots experiment in randomized complete blocks design was used with four replications. Four sowing dates were considered as main plots (Feb.9, Feb.21, Mar.4, Mar.16). Sub plots were including of four varieties:KSC 402 SWC, KSC 403 SWC, KSC 406 SWC, KSC 408 SWC. Yield variance analysis results showed effects of sowing date and variety were significant at 1% level and interaction effect of sowing date and variety was significant at 5% level. Feb.9 was the suitablest sowingdate with yield of 1.591t/ha. The best variety was KSC 402 SWC and produced the heightest yield (1.372t/ha). In interaction effect of sowing date and variety KSC 402 SWC and KSC 403 SWC varieties at Feb.9 had the heightest yield (1.639 and 1.612t/ha). This varieties at Feb.9 were the supperior treatments for yield components (173.0 and 169.8g thousand kernel weight, 14.5 and 15.0 kernel row, 27.75 and 24.25 kernel per row). At sowing dates of Feb.21, Mar.4 and Mar.16 decreased yield at 1% level. Grain yield of varieties at planting dates was low. Because varieties flowering stage in all sowing dates was synchronized with spring middle heat and was deranged their pollination. Therefore sweet corn yield in winter sowing decreases greatly in Behbahan region.
