Study of segregating Generations for extracting sorghum inbred lines in Iran condition is the basic proceodure for sorghum breeding, which has began from 1985. This study has done using the materials which produced in previous studies. These materials incloded 121 segregating populations from F1-F4 and 45 lines in F5 generations and were studied with pedigree method. Each matherial was planted in one row of 7 meters length, the planting space was 60x12 cm., ( in the F2 generation that space was 60 x 25 cm ) . The main characters such asflowering date, tiller number, plant hieght, panicle hieght, resistant to pest, deseases and loding , uniformity, harvesting date and the grain yield of each selected plant were recorded . Acording to studied traits, 366 segregating populations, 129 lines in F5 and 87 lines in F6 were selected. Some F6 and late maturity rows were rejected. The selected pure lines will study in the preleminary yield trial and the segregating populations will be furthur selfed for inbred line production.
