Evaluation of yield and some agronomic characteristics of Iranian new sunflower hybrid
2004

Sunflower hybrids can play an important role in increasing of oil seeds production. Following the programme of sunflower genetic material enhancement, 34 new hybrids were compared in 1999 and the best 10 genotypes were selected. These best hybrids together with Golshid and Armaviresky as checks, evaluated in an experiment based on RCB design for two years (2000-2001) in Khoy station. During the growth period, usual agronomic treatment was applied and some agronomic, morphological characteristics of these lines were recorded. After harvesting grain yield, 1000 Kernel weight and oil content of seeds were measured. Simple and combined analysis of variance was done and means were compared using Duncan method. Correlation between traits was determined. Results showed that the CM52×R46 combination had the highest grain yield (4521 Kg/ha). This hybrid was about 12 days earlier than Armaviruski .Tow high yielding other combinations were CM14×R28 and CM40×R43. Key Words: sunflower, Hybrid, Grain yield, Oil
