Evaluation of genetic materials of crossbreeding is one of the common and indispensable methods in rice breeding. This process starts with crossing (or other methods of producing the genetic variation) and usually ends to introduction a new line or variety. This study was the continuation of classical method for rice breeding in Fars province which was started with crossing and study of segregating generations in recent years, and this study was conducted to evaluate the obtained pure lines. Sixty two pure lines that were selected from previous year(2000) from F5 and F6 generations and observation tests with two checks (16 Ghasrodashty and 7321) were arranged in a lattice design with two replications in 2001 at Ghare-bagh plain. Each entry was transplanted in 1×1.4m. plots with 20×20 cm spacing and 3-5 seedling hill-1 at 5th July 2001. Nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers were applied in 3 splits(at transplanting, active tillering and panicle initiation) with 150,45and 0 Kg.of NPK respectively. Data of plant height and tiller No. were collected at grain filling period. After grain harvesting in each plot analysis of variance for grain yield and morphological traits were accomplished. Test of quality factors such as Amylose content,Gelatinization temoerature and Gel consistency were done by quality lab of RRII(Rasht). Twenty eight pure lines were selected based on the above analysis and also field observations for further studies in future experiments. Key words: Rice, Yield, Quality, Morphological traits, Preliminary test.
