Effects of limited irrigation on grain yield, yield Components and qualitative traits of some new wheat cultivars

36 In order to illustrate the impacts of water deficit on yield and some agronomic characteristics of wheat, a study was conducted as randomized complete blocks design as a split plot layout with three replications and during three years in Kabutarabad Agricultural Research Station. Three levels of irrigation including: 60, 80 and 100% of water requirement (ETC) were considered as main plots and six wheat cultivars as subplots (Pishtaz, Shiraz, M-73-18, Marvdasht, Mahdavi and Back-cross roshan). Results showed that irrigation treatments had significant effect on grain yield, 1000 grain weight , biological yield, number of grain in spike, plant height and dough extensibility (P،ـ 0.01). The number of spike per sqaure-meter and gluten percent were significantly affected by applying mentioned treatments (P،ـ0.05). It is found that harvest index, protein content, ash, Zeleny number, and Maximum resistance of dough were not significantly affected. The cultivated wheat cultivars had significant differences (P0.01) in grain yield, plant height, biological yield, number of grain in spike and 1000 grain weight, harvest index, Zeleny number(sedimentation test), dough maximum resistance and dough extensibility and the numbers of spike per square meter, protein, ash and gluten were similar. The maximum WUE was 1.54Kgm-3 that acquired from ETC of 60%. Tolerance to water stress (in a descending order) was found in Pishtaz, M-73-18 and Back-cross roshan. Hence, For obtaining the maximum WUE applying ETC of 60% is recommended for the the mentioned conditions. Keywords: WheatDeficit irrigationYield componentsGrain yieldQuality.
