To illustrate the impact of variouse levels of consumed water on grain yield, yieldcomponents and quality indices of rice, a study was conducted based onrandomized complete blocks as a split plot design with 3 replicates and 3treatments for 2 years. Three levels of irrigation water including : permanetflooding under 3.5 cm water during growth period (I1), permanet flooding under2.2cm water during growth period (I2) and 0-1.5 cm above the soil surface (I3) wereconsidered as main plots and 8 varieties (Geredeh mahali, Zayandeh rud, sazandegi , Hasani, 67-97, 67-113, 67-47 and 67-72) as subplots in a experimentalsite located in shahid fozveh research station. The treatments were comparedbased on yield grain, yield components, water use efficiency (WUE) and qualityindices including: amylose, geletination degree and gel consistency. Results showedthat irrigation treatments had siginificant effect on sterility percent, plant hight, panicle length, root length, dry root wight , gel consistency, geletination degree and WUE (P،ـ0.01). Significant differences (P،ـ0.01) were noticed in gelenation degree , gelconsistency, number of days until 50% of grain ripening, root lenght, dry rootwight, plant height, panicle length, 1000 kernels , sterility percent, grain yield, seedlength, seed width, number of tiller, number of grain in panicle and WUE among thecultivars. Also cultivars have siginificant effect (P،ـ0.05) on amylose and numberof days until complete ripening. The highest magnitude of WUE was calculated 0.91kg/m3for (I3) followed by zayandeh rud, 67-113 and sazandegi with 0.86 and 0.85 respectively. Considering the importance of water consumption optimization as themain scope in arid and semi - arid lands of Iran, (I3) is recommened.
