In order to collect desired genes and eliminate probable weakness points , to increase quantity and quality of local onion masses in North of Khorasan , we collected 18 local masses . In this study which continued for 5 years , we used, in order to increase desired alleles and protect plant nature physical condition . 18 local masses were collected up from different onion farms of Khorasan cities which are suitable for growing onion , by sampling . Then in 1378 , 15 masses were selected and planted in isolated plots ( with very small pore nets ) and after pollination , the plants` seeds that had bigger inflorescence , much more floret , bigger seed , etc were selected . in 1379 , the selected seed were planted in different lines and 1000 bulbs with 4 centimeter length were selected , based on considered characteristics . After granary test in 1380 , selected bulbs were planted in one isolated block , so pollination was done among the selected masses. Researches based on notes taken cultivation ,harvest processes , onion `s bulb were selected . pulp color variety in the selected onions make us use three isolated blocks with 3 kilometer distance , in order to produce seeds in Neishabour agriculture research station . in 1382 yellow onion or pink onion were planted in the first block and the withe onion were planted in the second block and red onion were planted in the third block . After producing seeds from considered crucibles in per block , the selected seeds were studied in randomized complete block design with 4 replication , under the title of number 1 corrected mass , number 2 and number 3 with primary seed provided from local farmer in the first year .Number 3 corrected masses ( Daregaz sadat red ) were selected as the highest yield among the collected masses . the number 2 corrected mass ( fathhabad with – Roshtkhar ) was selected as the high yield and suitable period to keep in granary for onion with with pulp . Between 18 care , the number 1 corrected mass ( yellow Bojnord ) was selected because it had thinner neck and it was favorable in market.
