Semi- detailed study of land suitability classification of major field crops in Rudan-Mosaferabad

The need for optimum use of land has never been greater tham at present, because of verypopulation growht . Althongh soil Survey and land classification in Iran has a rather long history, but most of the time it has been used for land suitability evaluation morder to help land developers and agriculturists. The aim of this study is soil clas sification , evaluation and determinatiom at land qualitative for wheat, corn , potato , onion and alfalfa in Hormozgam province. The studied area, located between 57 6 E and 57 15 E altitude, and 27 51 N and 27 55 N longtitude with 6520 Ha area. The information obtained from a semi- detailed soil surrey indicated the that Entisols are the main soils . After Soil classification and experiments results, land suitability classes were determined according to "FAO system of land evaluation for special crops ", with simple limitation method and parametric method. The qualitative land suitability classes for corn are S3 - N2 , for wheat are S2 – N1 , for potato S2- N2 , for Onion are S2-N2 , for alfalfa are S2-N2 .
