Rsesarch on the Percentage of infestation by wheat stem sawfly in cultivars and promising lines of wheat in Karaj

Experiments were carried out in karaj in 1998 and 1999. 14 cultivars and promising lines of wheat were planted in R.C.D. design with 4 replications at research station of seed and plant Improvement Institute.After harvesting, percentage of infestation was determined by counting infested and uninfested plants.Statistical analysis showed that,there was significant differences among the wheat lines. Treatment no.3 with 11.58% showed the most infestation and treatment no.6 and 14 with 4.52 and 4.65% showed the least infestation in comparison with other lines.Stem thickness was determined in all of the treatments, resesults showed that,there was also significant differences among the wheat lines.Treatments no.11 and 1 with 1238.13 and 1128.13 micron respectively,showed the most stem thickness and treatment no.4 with 486.88 micron showed the least stem thickness among the wheat lines.The rate of silicium was determined in all of the treatments.Results showed that there was also significant differences among the wheat lines.Treatments nos 12 and 7 with 1.456 and 1.448 percent showed the most and treatment no.4 with 0.883 percent showed the least rate of silicium among the wheat lines.After determining the percentage of infestation , stem thickness and rate of silicium in all of the reatments,regression line was drawn for three factors.There was a significant negative correlation between percentage of infestation ,stem thickness and rate of silicium.
