Study on climatological demands of different corn Hybrids and their effects on yield and yield components

This study was conducted to identify the best range of different climatic parameters for planting the corn, their effects on yield and yield components and determination of thermal units in growth stages of corn cultivars in Kaboutarabad research station of Isfahan in 2003-2004. In this experiment six commercial corn hybrids were compared in four planting dates in a randomized complete block design with arrangements of split plot in three replications. The results showed that: The Number of days to 50% of seedlings emergence, tasseling, pollen grains and sillking emergence were effected by planting, dates and decreased with delaying of sowing. The number of days to physiological maturing decreased slightly with delaying of sowing and then increased with more delay of sowing. In 2003, the hybrid 700 planted in mid June had the highest grain yield (11.52, ton/ha). In 2004, the hybrid S.C 647 planted in mid June had the highest grain yield (10.02, ton/ha). Anova results showed: The best planting date was mid June with yield mean of 11.79 ton per hectar The superior cultivars was S.C 700 with yield mean of 10.51 ton per hectar. Among climatic parameters temperature, daily evaporation and sunny hours duration had the highest correlation with grain yield, respectively.
