The establishment and evaluation of plants collection in desert region of Iran

During the first phase of the project of the desert plant collection, 130 species were collected from all over the country that have been classified in 71 Genera and 26 Family. Here is something about Scientific, Persian and Local name, specification of place that they have been collected, germination, establishment, growing, Phenology stage, annual growth and major disease. Most specimens related to Chenopodiaceae with 24 species and Poaceae with 20 species and the minimom number related to Brassicaceae, Meliaceae and Solanaceae family with one species. In this selection seeds, sapling and slip were collected from different places of the Yazd province and several samples were selected from other provinces. Pot saplings were planted in spring after compatibility with area climate. Then they were moved to main land of collection. After establishment phenology and annual growing were recorded and the main pests and diseases were survived. The results show that out of 130 planted species, 20 species died at first year and 5 species died at second year. The situation of 9 species is not clear yet and out of 96 established species, 82 species have completed their phenology stage. From this number 58 species had a good establishment with area climate condition and water and soil situation of collection.
