Analytical and experimental approach of optimizing solar dryer performance for dryin lime.

Hormozgun province has large area under lime cultivation. In this region dried lime is a product of lime .For preparing it,lime fruits are speared on the ground . drying time is 45 days.In this research three method for drying were used:1- Electrical dryer,in this experiment ,the limes were dried at three temperature including 45,55,60°C .2-solar drier consist of a collector with absorbtion solar energy which rises the air temperature and reduces the air relative humidity.3-drying on the earth.The results showed that the lengh of time for drying at 45,55,60°C was 20,6,4 days consequently and dried lime fruits had bitter flavor with black green peel.The lime fruits in solar drier were dried from 86% to 15% moisture content after 20 days. The maximum temperature of air in solar drier was 55 ؛C.At a radiation rate of 669 W/m2, the maximum rise in temperature was 17°C .The solar drier reduced the drying time, in comparison with traditional drier, to less than half.Moreover , the limes were dried by solar drier were in better quality in their appearance ,Organleptics and hygienic condition.
