Tomato powder is classified in hygroscopic powders category, which could be produced under certain conditions. Actually, Filter-mat dryer is a three-stage dryer, which is able to produce different thermoplastic powders such as tomato powder with a good quality and without appearance of stickiness of powder on interior wall of the dryer. Simultaneous use of three different thermal regime and combination of two spray and belt drying methods has enabled this dryer to have a good production efficiency and smaller dimensions compared to general spray and belt dryers. In this dryer the most portion of drying process (80-88%) is carrying out in spray dying section and final stage of drying will be carried out on belt by passage of warm air from porous bed of powder. By attention to abilities of this dryer, it is selected as the newest method for production of different hygroscopic materials. In this pilot plant the evaporation capacity of the dryer is 16kg/h. The feed is a homogenized tomato pate with rate of 20kg/h and concentration of 20-25%. The moisture content of final product is about 3-4%. .
