Phytophagous mites playing primary pests on apple orchards in different parts of Iran, since 1968. An investigation done on effectiveness of different Envidor SC 240 (Spirodiclofen, BAJ 2740) doses (0.4, 0.5 and 0.6%) as a new tetronic acid acaricide in comparison of two registered acaricides (pride and appolo) on phytophagous mites (Panonychus ulmi and Tetranychus urticae) in five major apple growing orchards (Tehran, Khorasan, West Azerbijan, Ardebil and Esfahan provinces) during period of 2003-2004. The BCRD method was used to assign 4 replications of five treatments along with an untreated check plots. Treatments initiated when mean European red mite (ERM) reached 3 active mites or more and for two spotted spider mite (TSPM) 5 mites per leaf. Twenty-five treated leaves collected randomly from different treatments plots and number of alive and hatched mite eggs&rsquocounted under stereo microscope at interval of one day before and 3, 7, 14 and 25 days after acaricides application. Mortality % evaluated through Hinderson-Tilton method. Analysis of variance done on collected data and acaricides and interval of sampling selected as main and related factors in factorial method of analysis. Results of envidor doses indicated that, doses 0.5 and 0.6% caused higher mortality% and envidor of 0.5% envidor caused higher control of ERM (92.71%) in Oromieh after Pride (95.6%) which statistically was found significant at level of one percent. Maximum ovicidal effects among treatments recorded for Envidor 0.5 and 0.6% in Khorasan and Azerbijan respectively. Effects of all treatments on active stages and two level of ERM mite incidence except for Appolo recorded significant and placed them in group A of DMRT. Mortality % of mite pests at different interval period indicated that maximum controlled observed at 7 and 14 days of treatments. An effect of Envidor of 0.5 and 0.6% on TSPM after perid treatment was found significant. In toto, results of mortality% of two Envidor doses (0.5 and 0.6%) with their sustainable effects on all mite stages without causing any side effects on apple leaves placed them for control of phytophagous mites in apple orchards.
