Problems of Cut Flower Rose

North Khuzestan is one of the most important regions in Iran that producers 30 billions cut flower roses in winter. In order to recognize problems of cut flower rose production and present applied scientific ways to improvement rose quality indices in this region, questionnaires were prepared and completed after visiting 34 rose farms. Requested information included : general information, rose varieties, planting and caring, propagation, pruning date, source of irrigation water, method and period of irrigation, application of organic and chemical fertilizers, pests, diseases, weeds, harvesting, classification, sending to sale centers and producing cooperation’s. after data collection, there were processed and basic ways to reduce problems were presented. Some of recommendation were: 1- Adequate attention to substitute new and proper varieties foe export instead of Ilona variety 2- Improvement of planting pattern and reduction bush density in hectare 3- Propagation rose plants with budding instead of cutting 4- Improvement of environmental conditions of rose greenhouse 5- Use of pressured irrigation systems instead of surface irrigation 6- Comprehensive researches in order to determine amounts, data and methods of application organic and chemical fertilizers on the basis of rose actual requirements 7- Adequate attention for comprehensive researches for selection proper ways to control weeds, pests and diseases 8- Harvesting, classification and sending cut flower roses to sale centers in proper conditions 9- Emphasis on the role of producing cooperation’s for preparing farmers required inputs 10- Correct marketing in internal and external sale centers in order to eliminating rose brokers and specific attention to flower export.
