English. [The conditions for the appearance and evolution of ovarian cysts in cow are not yet known. Several cysts regarded as persistent are actually renoved structures. Although the appearance of a cyst in cow is frequent at first follicular waves after calving, a high percent of cysts observed at herd level after the 30th day post partum must steer to search for risk factors. Ultrasonography seems to be the most suited method for discrimination between the luteinic cysts and the follicular ones. Depending on circumstances, different therapeutic solutions (hCG, GnRH, PGF2alpha, progestogens) are available, although treatment is not to be always carried out.]

Numerose cisti considerate persistenti sono in realtà strutture che si sono rinnovate. Benché la comparsa di una ciste nella vacca sia frequente in occasione delle prime ondate di crescita follicolare dopo il parto, una percentuale elevata di cisti in allevamento dopo il trentesimo giorno post partum deve orientare alla ricerca di fattori di rischio. L'ecografia sembra essere il metodo più appropriato per distinguere le cisti luteiniche da quelle follicoliniche.
