Evaluation of tolerance to pear decline of new pear selections with molecular methods [pyrus communis L.]

English. Pear decline (PD) is one of the most dangerous diseases of pear trees caused by a phytoplasma belonging to the apple proliferation group (16SrX). A preliminary evaluation of tolerance to PD of 16 new pear selections, grafted on PD-infected rootstocks, was performed in the three-years period 2003-2005 using molecular methods. The symptom expression of the disease was evaluated and the relationship between the presence of symptoms and pear decline phytoplasma (PDP) detection in these selections was also studied. Results showed that PDP colonization occurred in 14 out of 16 selections, but not in 80-87-81 and 90050708-9 selections, possibly due to a tolerance to PDP. Work is underway to verify these preliminary observations and to analyze additional pear selections

Viene presentata una ricerca, svolta nel corso del triennio 2003-2005, sulla valutazione di 16 nuove selezioni di pero nei confronti del fitoplasma della moria, realizzata con l'utilizzo di diagnostici molecolari (PCR-ELISA, real time PCR). Gli studi effettuati hanno messo in evidenza come solo in due selezioni non si è avuta traslocazione dal portinnesto e/o moltiplicazione del fitoplasma nel soggetto. Alla luce di queste acquisizioni, le ricerche proseguiranno per verificare l'eventuale resistenza alla moria delle selezioni di pero che hanno fornito i migliori risultati
