The effect for the cattle manure in the intentional alternate bearing method of Unshu

We analyzed the effects of cattle manure on the tree growth and soil management under the intentional alternate bearing culture. Forty or 80 tons/ha of cattle manure was applied to groves in non-bearing year. The amount of manure did not affect the yield. The production of 30 tons/ha or more was obtained every year with some yearly fluctuation. In 80 ton/ha application, both sugar and acid content were slightly higher than in 40 or 0 tons/ha application. The nitrogen contents in leaves were not affected by the manure application. The potassium content in the leave increased by the application of cattle manure while magnesium content decreased manure-free treatment. The physical and chemical property in the soil, such as pH and air filled porosity were improved to increase the number of fine fibrous roots and their activities. Potassium was accumulated but Mg/K ratio was not decreased. The nitrogen deficiency was revealed after two fruit-bearing seasons by the decomposition of the cattle manure.
