A farm's management is made more difficult by its external economic environment. Under such circumstances, farms set farm business goals whilst coping with various management issues, and carry out the management of the farm. The main objective of this study is to clarify the evaluation of management goals in which Japanese apricot production farms undertake Japanese apricot production. In addition, this study will clarify characteristics for emphasizing farm management ability in realizing farm business goals in Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture. The Analytic Hierarchy Process model was applied to the analysis. The main results of this analysis can be summarized as follows. 1) According to the Consistency Index value, achievable farm business goals for Japanese Apricot production farms are 'systematic replanting and early arboricultural land' and 'high-quality and stable production' under the existing management scale. 2) As for enterprising business management sense and from the viewpoint of improved farm management ability, a clear need for farm management abilities was confirmed in order to realize each farm business goal. This result strongly suggests that farm management abilities are required for each different development stage of farm management.
