English. The objective of the doctorate paper is to investigate a quantitative and qualitative characteristic of pine round timber obtained in forest final felling in Latvia regarding to knottiness. The main tasks to achieve the goal: (1) to determine the characteristic of the major dimensions of pine stem; (2) to compile the characteristic of knots in the commercial part of pine stem; (3) to evaluate the pine round timber regarding to quality; (4) to investigate the tree slenderness regarding to quality of round timber obtained in pine stands.

Galvenie uzdevumi mērķa sasniegšanai: 1) priedes stumbra svarīgāko izmēru noskaidrošana; 2) priedes stumbra komerciālās daļas zaru raksturojuma sagatavošana; 3) kvalitātes un vērtības noteikšana no priedes stumbra sagatavotajiem apaļajiem kokmateriāliem; 4) koka stabilitātes rādītāja novērtēšana saistībā ar kokmateriālu kvalitāti priežu audzēs galvenajā cirtē.
