Evaluation of date palm cultivars with their monetary returns under ecological zone of Dera Ismail Khan

Twelve date palm cultivars (Mobini, Zaidi, Obaidullah, Sarkari, Shakri, Khudravi, Basra, Hussaini, Muzawati, Sabzo, Gulistan and Dhakki) were studied for their growth parameters, fruit yield and monetary returns during 2004 at Arid Zone Research Farm, Dera Ismail Khan. The results showed that Dhakki cultivar had significantly higher number of fruits (13 strand) and fruit yield (6.44 kg/ bunch) with increased fruit length (4.1 cm), fruit width (2.5 cm) and pulp weight (12.03 g). The said cultivar also produced maximum fruit yield (112 kg/tree) and monetary returns of Rs.6720 per tree.
