Influence of arable land utilization systems on segetal weed communities

The aim of the work was to prove the influence of differentiated long-term utilization of arable lands on botanical composition of plant communities. The research was carried out on the area of about 200 ha of arable lands near Wroclaw (Poland), where vegetables were growing from 1950 to 1990 and other plants, such as winter wheat, winter rape and maize from 1991 to 2005 were cultivated. In 1994 about 40 ha as a park area and 12 ha as a fallow were separated from this field. Weed infestation was evaluated by agrophytosociological and square frame method. Since 1991 for weed control herbicides have been used. After 10 years under different utilization systems diversified weed communities developed - 12 weed species on vegetable plantations, 22 on wheat, rape and maize plantations, 70 on park area, 42 on cultivated fallow and 56 on a fallow without cultivation
