Vegetables as an element of field plant production in the Kujawy and Pomorze province [Poland]

The paper presents the results of the analysis of the share of vegetables in the crop structure and the importance of vegetables for the organization of field plant production in the Kujawy and Pomorze province (Poland) under various natural and economic conditions. The structure of field vegetable crops and the share of this group of crops in the total crop structure on arable land in communes and districs of the studied province and Poland were defined. Over the last years the share of vegetables in the total crop structure in the studied province has increased from 1.5 percent in 2000 to 2.3 percent in 2004. The field cultivation is dominated by onion - 23.6 percent and carrot - about 17 percent of the total vegetables acreage
