The aim of the studies conducted in 1999 and 2005 was assessment of selected soil properties (water conditions and calcium and nitrogen content) using weed communities accompanying cereal crops in the organic and conventional systems in the same soil and climatic conditions. It was revealed that many-year application of organic methods positively affected soil water conditions and calcium and nitrogen content in soil. In the conventional system changes of these properties were less apparent
