The effect of seed size on seeding value, yield and stand architecture of spring triticale

The aim of this research was to determine emergence, grain yield, yield components and stand architecture of spring triticale Matejko cultivars in dependence to seed size. The microplots experiment was performed in 2002-2003 years in Pulawy. The factor was seed size. The 4 levels of factor was taken in this experiment: a1 - seed certificate, a2 - big seeds, a3 - medium seeds, a4 - small seeds. The experimental seed samples were separated from commercial certified seed lots. Small seeds were characteristics in small seeds emergence. Grain yield was significantly lower when planting were made with small seeds compared to big and certificate seeds. Biggest seeds and seed certificate caused increase of the number of heads, grain yield per plant and number of seeds per plant
