The aim of the study was determination of influence of sowing rates on the growth and yielding of filed bean cultivars. Two low tannin content cultivars, Leo and Olga were compared against a high tannin content cultivar Acord. The experimental factors were: I - cultivars: Acord, Leo and Olga, II - plant density per square m: 45, 60, 75. The investigated factors did not influence the length of growth stages. Compared to cultivars with low tannin content the high tannin content cultivar - Acord formed by 14 percent more pods with seeds. The increase in the sowing rate from 45 to 75 seeds per square m reduced seed weight per plant, number of seeds per plant, number of pods with seeds and the percentage of seeds in the over-ground parts of the plants by 29, 26, 25 and 8.6 percent
