Effect of method of transplant production on its quality and yielding of early kohlrabi (Brassica oleracea L. var. Gongylodes L.)

In the study conducted in 2003-2004 there was estimated the effect of the method of transplants production on quality os seedlings and yield of early kohlrabi. The seedlings were produced in different type of pots: rings with capacity of 169.5 cubic cm, multicells with capacity 76.5 cubic cm, 26.5 cubic cm, 10.2 cubic cm and compared with bare root transplants. Best transplants were obtained from the largest pots: cylinders and trays with capacity 76.5 cubic cm. The method of transplant production influenced the marketable and early yield of kohlrabi. The highest yield was obtained from transplants produced in rings. Reduction of cell volume from 169.5 to 76.5 and 10.2 cubic cm reduced of marketable yield of stems by 15.76 and 37.22 percent.
