Sheep production systems in the north of Granada province. Case studies

We studied the characteristics of 21 conventional and two organic sheep enterprises in the north of Granada Province. Most of the herds were mixed sheep and goat farms, with emphasis on sheep production. We considered aspects related to management systems, productive behaviour and technological and economic characteristics of the herds. All these may indicate barriers and potential for the expansion of sustainable organic sheep systems in this area. Information was obtained through semi-structured interviews to farmers in 2003
