The effect of pulsed electric field on selenium incorporation in the yeast Rodothorula rubra

The shaker culture of Rodothorula rubra yeast was exposed to a pulsed electric field. The highest incorporation of selenium into the cells was observed at an electric field strength of 1.5 kV/cm, a 1 Hz frequency, a pulse witdh of 1 ms and for 15 min. Ofter 16 hours PEF exposure of culture on 15 micro g/ml, the highest concentration selenium in the cells was observed. Selenium was determined by means of AAS technique
