Proceedings of the working group are reported, which include general briefing on ECP/GR (European Cooperative Programme for Crop Genetic Resources Networks), report of the Working Group Chair, update on national collections, description of the International Database for Beta, summaries of the discussions on quality concept and seed regeneration guidelines, priorities for Phase VII of ECP/GR, task-sharing within the WBN (World Beta Network) steering committee, scientific presentations on the scientific basis for in situ management of Beta and genetic resources for beet breeding and a report on organizational aspects and election of the coordinating committee of the ECP/GR. Papers presented at the meeting are given in part II of the publication which include 16 papers on national collections and two on the International Database for Beta. Papers of scientific presentations on the sea beet of the Po delta; deployment of Beta genetic resources; exploiting disease resistance and evaluation of drought tolerance in Beta germplasm; and evaluation of red beet working collections and donor material in Lithuania are also included
