Krishnamoorthy, V. (Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu (India). Department of Fruit Crops) | Kumar, N.
The present study was carried out to assess the female and male fertility of new synthetic tetraploid banana hybrids. H-02-23, H-02-26 and H-02-30 registered the highest pollen production, pollen germination and germinable pollen grains, respectively. Most of the tetraploids produced a high proportion of diploid pollen. Among the 18 tetraploid banana hybrids, H-02-26 had the highest number of germinable pollen grains, while H-02-30 had the largest number of germinable diploid spores. H-02-25, H-02-29 and H-02-31 recorded the three highest numbers of germinable haploid spores. The highest seed set was recorded in H-02-32
