Mineral content losses of meadow hay during storage

In the aim to investigate the influence of length of the storage period on mineral content (macroelements - Ca, P, Mg, Na and K) of hay from the Skopje region a total of 60 samples were taken in different time. The 20 samples of meadow hay were taken between September and October, than between December and January, as well as between March and April. Numerical differences in the levels of some macroelements in a meaning of time were clearly expressed by negative trend. With losses produced during storage, hay with normal mineral content may degraded into a hay with low content of minerals, also can not be satisfied basical needs of minerals in ruminant nutrition.
