[Application of cultured milk products with laminaria additives to decrease ioddeficit for surgical patients]

118 surgical patients aged 18-60 with pus processes of different locating have taken part in the research. The equaled group (76 members) has been determined as one without iodine deficiency. The main group and the control group members (29 and 13 persons respectively) had iodine deficiency, therefore the patients of the 1st group have received 0.1 kg yoghurts extra which have been added by pounded laminaria and laminal. The last is a gellike product of laminaria processing. Laminal contains free sodium alginate, has coat and adhesive affect and functiones as enterosorbent of radionuclides, heavy metals and toxins. Taking duration depended on the level of iodine deficiency. Wound process progressed without complications for the main group, wounds healed more rapidly, there were no inflammations. Furunculous patients and hydradenitics were found having the most expressive clinical performance. The phagocytic index increased from 4.12 to 5.14 iodine containing yoghurts background after 20 days of treatment (in the control group it was 5.37). Some other rates of nonspecific organism reactivity (index of phagocytosis completeness, myeloperoxidase activity, neutrophil Nitro Blue Tetrazolium Reduction Test) in the main group were lower than in the control group initially but they came to normal in process of treatment. It is concluded that cultured milk products with laminaria additives can be applied successfully in complex therapy for patients with prolonged recurrent purulent infection.
